70 years Collegium Musicum
In the summer of 2022, the Collegium Musicum of RWTH Aachen University celebrated its 70th birthday!
For now 70 years, students and members of the university have come together to make music. To mark the occasion, there will be an internal Collegium Musicum celebration to which active musicians, as well as alumni and former contributors are invited.
In addition, there will be a commemorative publication - a document that will chronicle the CM's history to date. This will be made available on this website.
The ceremony on 12 of may
1952 - a year in which topics such as the ongoing Korean War, the reign of Adenauer or the coming into force of the European Coal and Steel Community were formative events - also brought with it a beginning of a musical community at RWTH Aachen University - the Collegium Musicum.
Seven decades have passed since that foundation. The anniversary celebration of this momentous occasion was duly celebrated on May 12, 2022, in Aula 1 of the main building of RWTH. In addition to some exciting speeches by former conductors, by the academic director Prof. Gries and former or current members, the orchestra and choir accompanied the evening with musical contributions. Solo contributions by the choir's vocal coaches as well as musical contributions by the Carbon-Quintet were also an auditory delight for all present.
