Friedrich Wilhelm Prize Award Ceremony
Collegium Musicum regularly demonstrates its commitment to RWTH at the University’s Friedrich Wilhelm Prize Award Ceremony, where outstanding Master's and doctoral theses are presented and awarded prizes.
Last year, the Collegium Musicum Choir presented various celebratory songs from very different eras. The modern tune "The Longest Time" by American singer and composer Billy Joel brought a sense of buoyant ease to the ceremony. This was later followed by two traditional European celebratory songs. While the German student song "Gaudeamus Igitur" evoked pathos, the traditional French dance "Tourdion" picked up the lively mood from the beginning for a fine finish to the musical performance.
In the 2017 award ceremony, choir and orchestra ensembles presented "Rondo" from The Magic Flute and Northern Lights by Ola Gjeilo. This performance was very well received both by our then Rector Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ernst M. Schmachtenberg and all the professors in attendance.
