Thoughts of Psalms

Music was, and always will be, irrevocably linked to spirituality and religious music. This relationship came to life once more in an impressive manner as our choir performed a rich mixture of compositions from across the ages under the title “Thoughts of Psalms”. On the 27th and 28th January, in the main building of the RWTH, University Director of Music Tobias Haussig conducted the over 150 singers in front of a delighted audience. Included were pieces by di Lasso, Monteverdi, Rheinberger, Bruckner, and Franck, as well as contemporary works by Nysted and Miškinis.

Not only being a language of spirituality, music also has the ability to entertain and stir up a dance! Under the title “symphonic e/motions”, on the 3rd and 4th February, our orchestra enchanted the audience in the Aula 1 of the RWTH main building with a program of symphonic dances. Conductor Tobias Haussig and his approximately 80 musicians presented orchestral works by composers Ravel, Borodin, and Grieg, as well as modern pieces by Stravinsky, Márquez, and Glass.

J.S. Bach: Christmas Oratorio

The time leading up to Christmas is full of anticipation, with festive music accompanying every step towards the long awaited Christmas Day. On the 22nd of December 2022, our Chamber Choir of around 30 singers, together with the Aachener Barockorchester, and under the conductorship of Tobias Haussig, did their part in getting the audience in St. Adalbert’s church into the festive spirit by performing the first three cantatas of J.S. Bach’s Christmas Oratorio.
